The Impact of Meat Consumption on the Environment

Ever wonder just how severe of an impact the meat industry has on the environment? NPR has been discussing this very issue with experts this week on the Morning Edition. It is alarming to note that 2/3 of the world's water supply is spent on irrigation. Much of this farmland is used as grazing land or for crops that are used in livestock feed. In short, many nations with starving populations are sacrificing the valuable nutrients in their produce in order to supply the demand of the meat industry in nations such as the United States and Australia.
